INDIPENDENCE DAY

November 28 is independence day, the most important holiday of Albanians not only in Albania but in Kosovo and throughout the Albanian diaspora. On November 28, 1912, the patriot Ismail Qemali, who today is known as the father of independence, raised the flag in Vlora, declaring Albania independent from the Turkish invaders and the claims of other invaders who coveted Albanian territories. The flag was later raised in other cities of the country. This day is celebrated with various activities, mainly in Tirana and Vlora.
